Filled up this morning when I got the paper.

12.5mpg

All city driving, to and from the shop. Stop and go, lights some idling etc. Never once over 3000rpm on that tank.

With this kind of mileage the Titan should be required to be converted to hydrogen, and only filled with a garden hose at home.

I have around 12000 miles and get 15 mpg on county roads with lots of curves and rolling hills, 19 hwy from southern INDIANA to VA. Beach. I think the variation in our gas mileage might have something to do with altitude and smog equipment some states require. I did notice a 1 mpg gain when I put a lid on.

11mpg most of the time. (no matter how I drive)  15 with the cruise set at 75.  So here's my question:

I have the tow package which supposedly has a different rear end in it than the stock.  I'm assuming that's a lower gear for towing and more power?  So what if i don't need all that towing power, can I put a higher rear end gear in it?  Would it make that much of a difference?

Back in the muscle car days my dad told my about how he had 3 sets of (rear end) gears for his 68 roadrunner.   I don’t remember the ratio’s (he had them memorized) but there was one set for everyday driving, one set for short racing and one set for highway trips and that it was about 1/2hr to switch them out.  Granted I’m not proposing having a different set of gears for different occasions like they used to but doesn’t it make since that if your NOT towing heavy loads to put a higher set of rear end gears in it?    It annoys me that my father-in-law’s extended Silverado gets the same highway mileage as my Titan does accept he’s PULLING A FIFTH WHEEL!!!  (He gets 21 normally)

Then of course the question is does anyone actually make gears that will fit in it?

I have had mine for about 15 months with 25000 on it and have gotten 15mpg from day one with the tow pkg.

I've got an 04 crewcab 2wd (34,000 miles) with tow pkg and offroad pkg and I see about 15mpg almost all the time in Dallas city driving.  I see only slightly better on highway trips.  I love the truck, but I'm not thrilled with the gas mileage compared to the Chevy trucks.
