Hello all,

Has anyone had a severe engine knock after you vehicle has sat for about a day or so.  I have had it happen 3 times now and I live in Florida where it doesnt get below 35 degrees hardly ever.  The knock only last for about 3 seconds until oil pressure gets up, but it is a loud knock for that 3 seconds.  This is a 2005 model crew cab LE with only 13K miles, I shouldn't be having this problem.  Thanks for the help,

Hi.,

I have the same knock and I am in Fla. The dealer claims that it is the Variable Cam Timing and that it is OK to knock when first started.

Doesn't sound good to me.

I appreciate the response.  I am still having the problem occassionally.  They have not been able to tell me anything as to why it is happening.  I hope it is what you say, I would hate to have premature engine damage because of low oil pressure or something like that.

Take care, and thanks

Hi,

I have been having the same problem for a year now and I am concerned that it is causing engine damage. I am in Vero Beach, Fl and the dealer seems to want to ignore the problem. They have tried different weight oils and it is still there. Now they want to change to 10W40 oil at the next oil change. It looks like the Nissan Factory rep had them put in an additive yesterday and wants me to use the vehicle for 2500 miles until it needs the next oil change. It's still knocking and I am starting to feel very uncomfortable with the situation.

They do not seem to want to do anything about the knock!

Hi,

I have been through the possibility of fuel knock and have tried various brands of 93 octane and it made no difference.
