My Titan is in for the brake TSB today, and I asked them to do the
wiring harness at the same time. Turns out it's a short harness
that connects the BCM (Body Control Module) to the large junction block
under the dash. Apparently some quantity of the wires in the
original harness are of insufficient gauge for the current drawn
through them under certain conditions.
Not sure what the conditions are, but it appears to be a fairly rare
combination of circumstances. In any case, it's worth doing the
replacement, but if you've been towing without problems, it's pretty
unlikely that your particular combination of harnesses, trailer wiring,
etc, make up the conditions that manifest the failure. There is,
of course, nothing to say that your next trailer won't be a match. Better safe than sorry.

I took my truck in to get the battery changed (I broke it). I wandered into the garage at the dealership where it was being worked on and surprised the mechanic under the dash (never trust those guys). I said "Hey buddy the battery is under the hood at the front of the truck!" He said something about a recall on the harness and I half beleived him and then mentioned it to the manager. The manager then explained the recall thing and that I would get a notice later in the mail. So anyway I thought it was funny because I thought I had caught the sabatour in the act.
