I have a 2004 Titan King Cab with < 10,000 miles.  With the weather turning cold, my driver's side door handle is not working properly.  After opening the door, the outside handle sticks in the open position making it impossible to latch the door closed.  Even if you push the outside handle closed, the door still will not latch closed.

I've tried jiggling the inside door level handle to try and release the outside door handle, but nothing works.  As a result, the dome light stays on and you are unable to close the door.  This morning I spent 20 minutes trying to close the door and finally got it shut (then proceeded to climb into the truck on the passenger's side).  I took it to my dealer and they found nothing wrong, however this has been happening for the past week and each time it has become more and more difficult to close the door.

Has anyone had a similar experience and if so, how did you solve this problem?  I realize this is related to the cold weather.  I do not have a heated garage to keep the truck stored.  I am terribly frustrated because if the door doesn't close I can't drive the truck.

I have had the exact same problem. The dealer told me the same thing, nothing found.

However I do have a quick way to shut the door. There is a little black screw slot in the door behind the lever that holds the door shut. Turn this clockwise with a screwdriver and the door will lock and shut after you do this. If you look at the slot in the door facing foward you will see what I am talking about. Hope this helps.

had the same issue, i fixed mine by cleaning the lock mechanism (visible when loking at the open door)with brakleen, and greasing it. i also found that if you lock the door after it wont shut it will latch for the time being (so u can leave) but to get out u must exit the passenger door.

not totally positive if it worked yet due to the fact that the truck lost the rear end the night after i tried it but i worked all day until i lost the axle(truck is still in service)
