I thinking about buying a new titan, but you guys are scaring me away a lilttle. So I have two questions for ya.

1) If you were to buy a new truck tomorrow would it be a Titan again?

2) How is your gas milelage when you are pulling something? Like a boat or a trailer.

A couple of tings to keep in mind...

First of all, remember the old addage that a satisfied customer will tell 2 friends, while an unsatisfied customer will tell everybody.  In other words, the people who have had no problems don't tend to be the ones you hear.

If you go out and look at similar forums for other makes and models, you'll find the same quantity of (if not more) complaints about those makes and models.  Why? The same exact reason as above - it's the unhappy people who post.  It's rare to see a "Everything's fine!" post.

That said, I've driven a lot of vehicles, cars, trucks, domestics, imports, etc.  I travel for a living so I'm in a rental car once or twice a week.  That means I get to see a WIDE range of vehicles.

I've had my share of problems with my '04 Titan (XM radio, window regulators, and it's in for the brakes today), but certainly no moreso than I would expect for a first model year truck.

If my Titan was totalled in a wreck today, I'd buy another one tomorrow over any other comparable truck available.  The Titan isn't perfect - it's designed by people, built by people (or machines build by people), maintained by people, and driven by people.  People aren't perfect, and neither will be their products.  I'm still convinced that overall, the Titan is the best full size truck available.  (Sure, lots of people will disagree... but hey, it's my opinion).

One of the reasons I bought a full size truck was to be able to comfortably tow my '88 Jeep Cherokee off-road toy.  With the modifications, full complement of tools and spare parts, it has a curb weight of somewhere north of 4000 pounds.  I currently flat-tow without a trailer.

My normal mix of freeway and in-town driving typically nets me about 15mpg using low-grade gasoline.  On a road-trip, I'll hit 17-17.5.  When towing my Jeep, I tend to get 13-14mpg.   As you can see, not a lot of variation.   Gas mileage wasn't a major concern for me when buying a big, 300hp V8 full-size truck.  I knew it was going to suck when I bought it.  :)

Good luck with your decision.  I'd encourage you to go out and look at similar forums for any other vehicle you're considering and read their horror stories too.

Jordan, like Dave if my titan were totaled I would buy another titan, I did have problems at first, but most were dealer related.Ichanged dealers and now everything is fine.

I pull a 27ft trailer gross weight 7300lbs. we towed it a little over 3251

miles this past summer with more than 3000miles with trailer. Our overall average miles per gallon 11.3. On an all highway run of 365 miles I averaged 17miles per gallon, that was without the trailer.

Hope this helps you a little making your decision

  Good luck,        Tom

I would buy a Titan again. And maybe when the diesel gets produced, I may go there. But I don't pull anything, but I do haul a$$.

When I was looking for another truck I looked at everything. I had no brand loyality anymore. I picked the Titan for the horsepower, the room inside the crew cab, the great ads and write up that was out there at that time and Nissans reputation. Now that I have had it 18 months and have gone through all that I have, I would not buy one again. Here are the reasons: (1) The rear ends in the 4X4's are coming apart. Nissan (the help # also) are giving people alot of runaround about this. On Titan talks forum, therer has been 44 reported trucks with failures. Some with more than one. These are not from abuse, these are from the suspected spider gears. (2) The way they handled the brake issue. They made prople come in, drop their trucks off three time before fixing their brakes with the "fixed" brakes. This was just waisting our time and puting some people at risk for a bad wreck. (3) the 1888nissan1 number is a joke. They have two or three reps that will help. The rest will say anything to get you off the line. (4) Resale. Check into it. They do not hold their value well compaired to chevy ford or dodge.

I do love driving the truck. I rides great, it has enough power to pass and to pull my 17 boat anywhere i want, it looks great to me, and its roomy. I think the new 06's have most of the issues taken care of that most of us have gone through. The electronicaly locking rear ends on the 4X4's do not seem to be fixed yet. I would stay away from these.

This was just my opion and this is all I have to say.

I'm not sure if I would do it over again. I just notice also that Consumer Reports just pulled their "Recommended" from the Titan and Armada...and also stuck it on their "Cars to Avoid" list.

You'll note, however, that Consumer Reports doesn't have *any* big trucks on their top list anymore... and no, Ridgeline and Tundra don't count.  Tundra *almost* counts, but having spent a fair bit of time in both a Tundra and a Titan, I agree with one auto writer's assessment that the Tundra was (paraphrasing) "A full-size truck in 7/8 scale".

They base their decisions on what we, as Titan owners, tell them... that's why they have rated the Titan with a predicted Much Worse Than Average reliability.

I've never ever seen so many solid black(much worse than average) dots on a new to 1 year old vehicle's reliability history.

Yes, they don't have any FULL size trucks as recommended and yes, the Titan is the best of the FULL size trucks.

I love my Titan a lot, but it spends WAY too much time at the dealership...

So.... if you want/need a full size truck, the Titan is the best on the market - even if it has its share of issues...

This is Nissans 2nd year building a full size truck. The big 3 have been doing it for the last 55 plus years and still havn't gotten it totally right. I would buy a Titan again. I havn't had any problems with the dealer making  the problems go away.

The Tundra and Ridgeline are mini-vans in trucks clothing. If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck then it’s a duck. They are for people that want a truck but are not man enough to go all the way (ei lots of women drive them).
